The Advisory Committee on Free Trade Agreements of the emirate of Abu Dhabi held its second meeting this year at the headquarters of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, under the chairmanship of H.E. Mohamed Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Department, and in presence of the members of the committee, who represented government departments and authorities in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
During its meeting, the Committee discussed a number of topics and cases pertaining to free trade agreements and looked into the latest developments of the negotiations on free trade agreements between the GCC countries and other economic groupings countries. Elsewhere at the meeting, the representative of the Ministry of Economy gave a presentation before the members of the Committee on these negotiations.
Also, the Committee has debated the Free Trade Agreement between the GCC countries and Singapore, in presence of representatives of the Government of Singapore. Note worthy is that this Agreement entered into effect from the beginning of September and is the first free trade agreement signed by Singapore in the region.
In addition, the obligations set out in the Agreement with Singapore, as well as the benefits the Agreement will bring to the GCC countries and Singapore were examined.
