Under the patronage of Abu Dhabi Economic Development Department, next Tuesday, March 13, the KM-Middle East 2012 activities, organized by Success-Steps Seminars and Conferences LLC., will be running for two days at Abu Dhabi Fairmont Hotel Sea-gate (Bab Al-Bahr). Elite of international and Arab experts and Knowledge Management professionals are presenting the diverse and versatile experiments backed up by modern theories in the field of Knowledge Management.This announcement is made at the press conference held at the Department of Economic Development (DED) to signal the launch of KM conference in the presence of H.E. the DED Undersecretary, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Al Noaimi, the Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), and H.E. Mr. Hazaa S. Al-Hazaa, the Board Chairman of Success-Steps Co. Group.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Mohamed Omar Abdullah, the DED Deputy, stated that the DED’s patronage of this conference sprang from their incumbent responsibility towards guiding Abu Dhabi’s economy as defined by Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision, which aimed at achieving sustainable economic development based on knowledge-based economy.H.E. DED Undersecretary asserted Abu Dhabi government's keenness to achieve what is more profound than introducing the ways each party can contribute in to achieve a knowledge-based economy, rather by enabling local government to play their roles
in achieving sustainable economic development in the emirate through a system of joint work.He added that the Abu Dhabi 2030 Economic Vision aimed at creating an attractive environment for knowledge workers, integrating the local economy with the global economy through the development of industry, trade and investment, and working towards controlling the level of inflation, and maintaining a stable financial system and enhancing competitiveness.HE Mr. Mohammed Omar Abdullah indicated the importance of innovation policy implementation emirate-wide, which is primarily focused on economy diversification drifting from dependence on oil and gas resources, and through the investment of human resources, the transfer of advanced technologies from developed countries in this field while ensuring the sustainability of this field through the localization of occupations associated with knowledge management.His Excellency noted the unprecedented achievement UAE made by ranking world’s seventh after scoring a lump of 92 points all together in the e-government standard part of the index of e-readiness within the report of 2012 issued by the United Nations recently, which reflects the attention and great support UAE Government direct towards placing the UAE as one of the most sophisticated in knowledge community building across the globe.According to the Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development, the UAE Government’s 2021 Strategic vision, based on the development of UAE’s knowledge-based economy , includes four important elements focusing on national identity, economy, education, and health. He also pointed out that Emirates seeks to achieve a competitive economy led by UAE’s people who are characterized by creativity and knowledge.H.E. the Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development affirmed that the UAE adopted a strategy of education development as one of the most important priorities within UAE’s future vision to build a knowledge community, as such the focus is on the human element as one of the most important pillars
of sustainability in the attainment of knowledge. He also pointed out that UAE established 100 national and privet universities, and opened the door for the entry of international universities with distinctive experiences in the field of tertiary education, including the American University, Sorbonne, New York universities among others.
His Excellency also said that the KM-Conference Middle East 2012 is a real opportunity and an ideal platform to get acquainted with the leading and most successful regional and international practices in this field, as it coincides with the context which UAE federal government is seeking to achieve within its 2021 strategic vision as well as the Economic Vision of Abu Dhabi Government for 2030.In the same vein, at the press conference, His Excellency Mohammed Al-Noaimi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) said that the partnership established between the ACCI and the institutions and corporations in the public and private sectors is a source of pride, where we managed to achieve many of the outstanding achievements through collaboration. He maintained that 'The Chamber of Commerce and Industry stretched forth its assistance and still continue as a key partner in all the achievements and developments witnessed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi'.He added that today's contribution of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) in this event is to reinforce such cooperation, where ACCI's sponsorship of the KM-Middle East 2012 arose from their acknowledgement of the significance of the topics and issues raised in the conference.Al-Noaimi indicated also that the Economic vision of Abu Dhabi 2030 identified a number of anchors on which the future social, political and economic development of the Emirate is to be based, notably the sustainable knowledge-based economy, hence the importance of knowledge management emerges to enhance the competitiveness of Abu Dhabi through the development of distinguished information-based economy, besides creating a solid base of national knowledge capital, which will form the platform for innovation and creativity.
He stressed that knowledge today has become the real asset for world countries since it includes information, innovation, property rights and workers' skills; those assets are not concrete, though, they are considered the national reserves and main contributor in the development of societies, especially in the economic dimension.Al-Noaimi contended that the commitment of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry to consolidate the concept of partnership between different sectors in the state, and to support all initiatives and events that are consistent with the common goal we all work for, which is the establishment of Abu Dhabi's regional and global position in all spheres.At the end of his speech, His Excellency Mohammed Al Noaimi , CEO of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, extended his thanks and appreciation to Success-Steps Seminars and Conferences Company (SSCC) for their organization of this exceptional event in the region, which addresses the issues of knowledge management, noting the role of the Economic Development Department in providing the necessary support for the success of such major events.Along the same line, at the press conference, His Excellency Mr. Hazza Al Hazza, Board Chairman of Success-Steps Group - the organizer of the conference - accentuated that knowledge management today has become a stringent necessity to make informed decisions. The second workshop will address the issue of: (Making use of behavioral principles to stimulate the flow of knowledge) presented by Mr. Arthur Chile, President of smart answers – Australia.The third workshop is discussing (The assessment of the knowledge management capacities - Understanding and developing tools and strategies for knowledge management) presented by Mr. Chris Collison, author of Learning to Fly - the United Kingdom.The fourth workshop previews the subject of (communication - your most powerful tool for knowledge management) presented by Mr. David Gurteen, the founder of Gurteen society of knowledge, which includes more than 20,000 people around the world - the United Kingdom.
This year's conference agenda will also include an academic track through which academic papers and research in knowledge management will be presented, and discussed in a special chamber under the supervision of Dr. Geoff Turner, CEO of the European Universities Centre of Knowledge Management Research.
