Participants in The Middle East Manufacturing Exhibition (MEMEX), which was held at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Center (ADNEX), praised the initiative of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi in placing ten of the biggest factories in Abu Dhabi under its umbrella during the exhibition.Representatives of Abu Dhabi factories stressed that the department of economic development is aware of having contact with industrialists in the emirate especially those who have activities in exports and which would reflect positively on the industrial sector. The role of this sector is growing rapidly in line with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 which focuses on diversifying income resources and activating the role of all sectors as well as focusing on export industries. The representatives stressed their awareness in supporting and reacting with all the initiatives of the department which aims at developing the role of the industrial sector within the framework of economic vision in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.Ten big factories in Abu Dhabi participated in the stand of the department namely: Exeed Premium Plaster, Al Mimari Industrial, Spectrum Glass, Spectrum Light Block, Abu Dhabi National paper Mill, Emcan Electric Motors Manufacturing, Cirta Electro Mechanical Contracting Maintenance, Supertech, Creative Engineering for Lathing Metal Works, and Vision Furniture Decoration Factory.Dr Adeeb Al Afifi, the Director of Foreign Trade and Export Support at the Department of Economic Development of Abu Dhabi, said that the participation of the department in MEMEX with a stand that includes ten big factories in Abu Dhabi comes within the frame of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 which aims at diversifying income resources and developing non-oil sectors. The participation in the exhibition also comes within the initiatives of the department and its plans to support local industries, promote and market them. This initiative comes within its strive to support the industrial sector in general and the export industries in particular as one of the main streams of developing economy and increasing its contribution in the gross domestic product (GDP).Dr Al Afifi valued the awareness of the factories in participating under the umbrella of the department in MEMEX which attracted huge number of visitors and achieved their goals in holding meetings between partners and enhanced the chances of cooperation and bilateral investments which would develop and increase the exports of the emirate.Emile Alexander, the managing partner in Emcan Electric Motors Manufacturing, said that participating in MEMEX under the umbrella of the department materializes the partnership between the private sector and the public one and develops the industrial sector which is so vital and important in developing the national economy, pointing to the department role in this regard.Alexander noted that the exhibition was a good chance for meeting other exhibitors and industrialists as well as the visitors of the exhibition from specialists and interested people in order to inform them with the latest products of Emcan Electric Motors Manufacturing which is one of a kind in the region and export 90% of its products to the Americas. This stresses the fact that many national industries are up to the international standards and are able to compete regarding the prices and quality even in the markets of advanced countries.The exhibition was a chance for acknowledge the needs of the markets especially that the factory planned for expanding its share in the local, GCC and Arab markets. It also provides an important podium for negotiations and exchanging ideas and opinions between the investors, contractors and specialists as well as informing them with the most distinguished projects which are taking place in the UAE in general and Abu Dhabi in particular. Khalil Abdul Baqi, Director General of Spectrum Light Block Factory, stressed the importance of participating in the exhibition, noting that participating in the stand of a pioneering and fine department is an honor by itself. He praised the well organization of the stand and the cooperation of the department and its support for local industrialists in marketing their products and presenting their features.Abdul Baqi made clear that the exhibition is a great chance to market the products of the factory to a wide range of customers, agents and contractors and paved the way for more contracts and agreements. It gave the opportunity to have contact with other exhibitors and exhibition visitors.He stressed that participating in MEMEX under the umbrella of the Department of Economic Development reflects the big monitoring and organizational role of the government of Abu Dhabi represented in the department.He noted that Spectrum Light Block exports half of its products to the neighboring countries and Iraq, and that the second half is appointed to cover the needs of the local market. He said that participating in MEMEX contributes in increasing the customers of the factory in the local market.Eng.
