Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and Red Crescent sign cooperation agreement

The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi has signed a cooperation agreement with the UAE Red Crescent to regulate the donations of the Department to the Authority, and transferring all prizes returned from campaigns and promotional activities and other similar events, in addition unconsumed materials, in accordance with the rules regulations and in force in the Department of Economic Development The agreement was signed today at DED's premises by HE Mohammed Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development and by HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Acting Secretary General of the Red Crescent Authority, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides. At the signing ceremony His Excellency Mohammed Omar Abdullah, said that the agreement with the Red Crescent is part of the DED' concern for the social responsibility and the contribution to the achievement of sustainable development through sharing responsibility in support of charities and philanthropic activities. The Department is seeking to strengthen and develop cooperation and integration with all stakeholders, particularly the UAE Red Crescent Authority to shore up partnership programs and provide support to various charitable and humanitarian projects, at the local and international levels, in order to serve more categories that help and assistance , Mohamed Omar said.  The Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development praised the efforts of the Red Crescent Authority, led by HE Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the Red Crescent Authority. Those efforts have enabled the State to assume a prominent place in the arena of philanthropy and charity, thanks to excellent programs of the Authority and its recognized and continuous presence in humanitarian and charitable fields locally and worldwide. The Undersecretary of the Department pointed out that this agreement has laid the foundations and set the standards for joint cooperation between the Department and the Red Crescent Authority for the next stage, stemming from functions of the of the Department and its responsibilities towards the community as stipulated by the Law No. 2 /2009 Concerning the Establishment of the Department of Economic Development.For his part, HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Acting Secretary General of the Red Crescent Authority valued the role of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi in supporting the Red Crescent's efforts and its strategy to achieve integration and coordination with government agencies in humanitarian and charitable fields. His Excellency Mohammed Ibrahim Al Hammadi pointed out that the agreement is a living example of constructive cooperation between the Red Crescent Authority and its strategic partners in all sectors and institutions of the society, which will further its local and international roles. This mirrors the orientations of the country's leadership and the good efforts for providing a better future and decent life for the needy and vulnerable categories.  The agreement embodied a mechanism for transferring all returned prizes and unconsumed materials stored in the Department, which will periodically be checked and reviewed for that purpose. The two sides agreed to form a joint committee to follow-up the mechanism and procedures for implementing the provisions of this agreement, through sub-committees or working groups which shall meet periodically, to assess the agreement and submit periodical reports to ensure continuity and sustainability of the joint work between the two sides. Following the signing of agreement the Red Crescent received from the Department of Economic Development, a number of gifts returned from promotional campaigns, and other similar activities; in addition to unconsumed material and some amounts of cash and other belongings in possession of the Department.
