DED Signs Protocol Agreement with Abu Dhabi Police

The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi (DED) has signed a protocol agreement with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ to define the joint operational framework for the issuance of economic licenses and permits in Abu Dhabi. The Agreement aims at outlining the parameters of roles and responsibilities of each party in order to ensure sustainability and the provision of high quality service.The agreement also aims to create a work mechanism that facilitates and simplifies the standard procedures necessary for the issuance of economic permits in Abu Dhabi through the single-window system according to which coordination with the concerned authorities can take place.The agreement was signed in the DED's headquarters by H.E. Nasser Ahmed Al Sowaidi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi DED, and H.E. Major General Obaid Al Hairi Al Ketbi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police, in the presence of H.E. Mohamed Omar Abdullah, Undersecretary of DED, and a number of high-ranking officials from both sides. H.E. Nasser Al Sowaidi, Chairman of DED said this agreement comes in the framework of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and is part of the updating and development strategy adopted by the emirate of Abu Dhabi to promote government performance and raise the efficiency of the services it provides to the business sector. This, however, requires active cooperation between DED and the related government entities, whether federal or local. For his part, Major General Obaid Al Ketbi emphasized Abu Dhabi Police GHQ's keenness to support all the initiatives that aim at consolidating economic activities and systematizing the mechanisms of issuing economic permits in Abu Dhabi. He pointed out to the pivotal role played by DED towards the fulfillment of the Abu Dhabi government's objectives of promoting and creating an attractive and stable business environment by implementing, upgrading and improving its measures in accordance with the best relevant practices and applications. According to the agreement, the two sides shall enforce a work mechanism to simplify, ease and improve the procedures necessary for the issuance of economic permits in Abu Dhabi through the single-window system according to which coordination with the concerned authorities shall be fulfilled.The agreement highlighted a number of areas of cooperation and coordination between DED and Abu Dhabi Police, most important of which is speeding up the initial approval procedure whereby the applicant can proceed with the issuance measures and business activities. The agreement also entailed the activation of the DED's electronic system for issuing business licenses which incorporates data of the economic permits. The agreement also defined the mechanisms of joint work between DED and Abu Dhabi Police with regards to the issuance of the economic permits via a set of measures using the Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway.
