H.E. Nasser Ahmed Alsowaidi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development inaugurated the Abu Dhabi and China Economic Forum, held on 31 May at the Sheraton Shanghai Hotel Residences, Pudong, and co-organized with the Institutional Investor Conferences. The Forum discussed and highlighted the extensive trade and investment opportunities that exist between China and Abu Dhabi.
The forum focused on investment opportunities in the key sectors driving the economic diversification process as stated in the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and is meant to create networking opportunities for Chinese and Asian investors with Abu Dhabi’s key industry leaders, financial intermediaries and top-level policy makers. leading the delegation of Abu Dhabi policy makers and business leaders, H.E. Nasser Ahmed Alsowaidi, Chairman, Department of Economic Development addressed the forum with a keynote speech in which he stressed on the strong Economic ties between China and Abu Dhabi, the substantial increase in the trade volumes between the UAE and China, and the strong presence of Chinese companies in Abu Dhabi.H.E. praised the Chinese rapid development in science, technology and education, as well as the remarkable achievements in Infrastructure which include energy, transportation and telecommunication, and congratulated China on the major success of Shanghai World Expo.Mr. Alsowaidi enumerated key investment opportunities in Abu Dhabi, and the Economic plan it looks at achieving through the Economic Vision 2030, especially in the fields of Aluminum, Steel, infrastructure, transportation (airports, seaports and railroads), petrochemicals and Renewable Energy.H.E. concluded that rediscovering China and Abu Dhabi opens the door to great opportunities in investment and trade, thanking Institutional Investor Conferences, and the strategic partner of the forum, the industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and all the sponsors.The Forum showcased the impressive range of investment opportunities available in Abu Dhabi.
